Netflix’s original animated series KPop Demon Hunters original soundtrack (OST) has proven its popularity by dominating the North American charts.

According to Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, the KPop Demon Hunters OST claimed the top seven spots on the U.S. Daily Top Songs chart on Tuesday.

“Golden” performed by the show’s fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x, secured the number one position. Their rival boy group, Saja Boys, followed closely with “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” in second and third place, respectively.

Huntr/x continued their chart dominance with “How It’s Done”, “What It Sounds Like”, and “Takedown” ranking fourth, fifth, and sixth. The collaboration track “Free”, featuring Huntr/x’s Rumi and Saja Boys’ Jinu, rounded out the top seven.

The simultaneous success of both Huntr/x and Saja Boys’ tracks has garnered significant attention in the industry.

In a Billboard preview article released on Tuesday, it was revealed that “Golden” reclaimed the top spot on the Hot 100 chart after a two-week hiatus. This marks the first K-pop song to reach number one in two years and the first-ever K-pop girl group track to achieve this feat. With its second week at number one, “Golden” has set a new benchmark in K-pop history.

The OST’s success extended beyond “Golden”, with a total of four tracks breaking into the Hot 100 Top 10. “Your Idol” claimed the fourth spot, “Soda Pop” secured fifth place, and Huntr/x’s “How It’s Done” landed at number ten.

This unprecedented achievement makes KPop Demon Hunters the first OST album to place four songs in the Hot 100 Top 10. It’s also only the second OST album in history to have three songs simultaneously in the Top 5, a feat not seen since the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 1978.

The success of “Golden” isn’t limited to the U.S. charts. The track topped the UK’s Official Singles Chart for three consecutive weeks, marking the first time a K-pop artist-featured song has reached number one since Psy’s “Gangnam Style” in 2012. By conquering both the American and British charts, “Golden” has solidified its global appeal.

KPop Demon Hunters, which debuted on June 20, is an action-fantasy animation that follows K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey as they lead secret double lives, protecting the world from evil forces while maintaining their glamorous on-stage personas.

“Golden”, the OST’s title track, plays a pivotal role in the series’ narrative. The song boasts an impressive pedigree, with contributions from K-pop’s top producers, including Teddy, IDO, 24, and EJAE.
