SK Chemicals is bolstering its pharmacy sales capabilities in the over-the-counter (OTC) sector through partnerships with other pharmaceutical firms.
The company announced on Tuesday that it has inked a joint sales agreement with Kyung Nam Pharm Co., Ltd for the allergy rhinitis treatment Nose-R Soft Cap.
This deal tasks Kyungnam Pharm with managing sales and marketing for Nose-R to pharmacies, a product SK Chemicals previously distributed via its pharmaceutical ordering platform.
Kyungnam Pharm is regarded as a powerhouse in OTC marketing and sales, with a robust sales network comprising 11 nationwide branches and an extensive pharmacy distribution system. The company boasts a diverse portfolio of pharmacy brands, including its flagship Vitamin C product Lemona, along with energy tonics, throat treatments, and antifungal medications.
SK Chemicals anticipates this collaboration will significantly boost the distribution and sales of Nose-R Soft Caps in pharmacies.
Nose-R Soft Cap is an OTC medication with fexofenadine as its primary ingredient, designed to alleviate allergic rhinitis symptoms caused by pollen and dust mites. It stands out as the only OTC antihistamine in Korea with explicit approval for treating allergy symptoms triggered by dust.
Fexofenadine is known for its lower sedation risk compared to traditional antihistamines. The liquid soft capsule formulation of Nose-R enhances its absorption in the body.
According to SK Chemicals, the ingredient poses a relatively low burden on the liver, allowing for use alongside other medications under professional medical guidance.
Park Hyun-sun, head of SK Chemicals’ Pharma Business, stated that this joint sales initiative merges Nose-R Soft Cap’s competitive edge with specialized pharmacy sales expertise to create a more efficient supply chain in the rhinitis treatment market. It aims to improve accessibility in pharmacies and expand its footprint in the allergy treatment sector by leveraging the strengths of both companies.
