Bukwang Pharmaceutical announced April 3 the launch of Edtamin Tablet, a five-component compound supplement containing calcium and vitamin D.
The product received regulatory approval March 26. It is composed of five active ingredients: calcium carbonate, benfotiamine, cholecalciferol, cyanocobalamin and folic acid.
Calcium carbonate functions as a calcium supplement, absorbed as calcium ions when it reacts with stomach acid. Benfotiamine, a fat-soluble vitamin B1 derivative, supports peripheral nerve function and energy metabolism.
Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, is effective in preventing and treating rickets. Cyanocobalamin, the most common form of vitamin B12, carries blood-forming properties that help combat anemia. Folic acid, a synthetic form of vitamin B9, supports fetal development — particularly in forming the brain and spinal cord — making it essential for pregnant women.
The company said it plans to expand sales and marketing efforts in endocrinology, highlighting benfotiamine’s role in maintaining peripheral nerve function and relieving symptoms such as pain and numbness.
