A South Korean digital healthcare company has secured an export contract in Vietnam, marking a successful case of commercializing Korean medical artificial intelligence (AI) services abroad.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) announced the success of their overseas expansion program. The initiative, jointly implemented by Daejeon, Daegu, and Gwangju as part of the K-Health National Medical AI Service and Industrial Ecosystem Development Project, resulted in export contracts and business agreements.
This program aims to boost domestic companies’ entry into foreign markets and expand global validation opportunities through cooperation among K-Health project regions. From June 22 to 26, activities in Vietnam included visits to local medical institutions, business meetings, and networking with industry stakeholders.
The establishment of connections with Vietnamese hospitals and medical device distribution networks is expected to accelerate market validation efforts for domestic digital healthcare companies in the region.
CoTras, one of the participating companies, signed an 85,000 USD export contract with Viet Gia Medical Equipment Joint Stock Company, which has over 200 mid-sized and larger hospitals as clients in Vietnam. CoTras is also pursuing an additional 70,000 USD export contract in the Hanoi area.
Thomas Stone and Kai-i Company explored business collaborations with the Pediatric Dentistry Department of Ho Chi Minh National University Hospital and Hong Bang International University. They signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vix Dental and are seeking further partnerships with local dental institutions in Vietnam.
Participating companies visited major Vietnamese medical facilities to lay the groundwork for overseas validation and commercialization. They assessed the demand for medical services and discussed potential applications of digital healthcare technologies at institutions such as Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Saigon ITO Phunuan Hospital, and Vinmec International Hospital.
Building on the success in Vietnam, the K-Health project will launch a global expansion support program in Singapore this September. The initiative aims to create more opportunities for overseas validation and commercialization of domestic digital healthcare companies through participation in the Medical Fair Asia exhibition and local business programs.
