
Deepnoid is expanding its suite of medical artificial intelligence (AI) solutions by introducing a new tool that automatically analyzes brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and quantitatively assesses the volume of various brain structures, bolstering its product line for brain disease diagnosis assistance.
The company announced on August 28 that it has received regulatory approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its Class I software medical device, DEEP BrainSeg.
DEEP BrainSeg automatically segments key anatomical structures in brain MRIs, providing volume measurements and percentile information for each region. The software can track changes over time by comparing current and previous scans, and it automatically calculates the magnetic resonance parkinsonism index (MRPI), a quantitative indicator used in Parkinson’s disease evaluation.
Previously, quantitative brain MRI analysis often required skilled medical professionals or specialists to manually measure images. Deepnoid aims to streamline this process by automating and standardizing image analysis, thereby reducing the workload on medical staff and enhancing diagnostic efficiency.
Analysis results are presented in a comprehensive report format that can be integrated with hospital Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). This integration supports medical professionals in reviewing results and facilitates patient consultations and explanations of examination findings.
This regulatory approval is expected to significantly expand Deepnoid’s AI business in brain imaging. The company has broadened its product range from magnetic resonance angiography (MRA)-based cerebrovascular lesion detection to include quantitative MRI analysis for degenerative brain diseases such as dementia and Parkinson’s.
Deepnoid is focusing on enhancing its product line under the brain imaging AI brand, Deep Neuro. The company plans to expand its solutions across various brain imaging modalities and disease areas, with the goal of developing a comprehensive imaging analysis platform.
Recently, the company has been pursuing a strategy to extend its medical AI business beyond image interpretation to encompass the entire workflow of medical institutions. Earlier this month, it secured regulatory approval for AxonFlow, a remote reading operation platform, marking its entry into services that bridge medical image interpretation and operational processes.
Deepnoid’s ultimate vision appears to be evolving from a provider of individual medical AI solutions to a comprehensive support system for medical institutions, covering diagnosis, interpretation, and results management.

Through ongoing research and development aimed at improving medical workflows, it aims to become a medical AI agent that supports the entire clinical process.
Deepnoid was founded in 2008 as an artificial intelligence specialist and has since focused on expanding its business in AI-assisted diagnosis and interpretation of medical imaging. In 2017, the company rebranded as Deepnoid and established an AI research and development center to strengthen its medical AI capabilities. Since then, it has diversified into industrial AI applications, including automated X-ray interpretation for airport security screening.
