Samjin Pharm has been selected as a company eligible for support under the 2026 World Class Plus Project, securing government support for the development of core technologies including new drugs and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

Samjin Pharm said Oct. 6 that it received its certificate as a newly selected company at a World Class Plus Project selection ceremony held Oct. 1 in Asan, South Chungcheong province.

The World Class Plus Project selects mid-sized companies with global growth potential and competitiveness and provides support for research and development (R&D), exports, financing and consulting. Through the selection, Samjin Pharm will receive government R&D support for up to four years.

Samjin Pharm was previously named among 10 mid-sized companies selected in April in the country’s advanced industries, including biotechnology, semiconductors and future mobility, as a company in the advanced biotechnology sector.

The latest evaluation focused primarily on the technological capabilities and commercialization potential of projects involving “advanced innovative new drugs” and “development of platform technologies based on drug formulation and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).”

Samjin Pharm currently has 16 drug development pipelines, including SJN314, a candidate for immune and inflammatory diseases. The company invests about 12% of its revenue in R&D as it pursues new drug development and the acquisition of platform technologies.

The company plans to expand technology exports and licensing through partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies and use its overseas business network to establish a business model that connects technology exports with commercialization.

Lee Soo-min, executive vice president and head of R&D at Samjin Pharm, said, “This selection recognizes the technological capabilities Samjin Pharm has built and its potential for global growth. We will make tangible progress in global technology exports centered on our key pipelines and platform technologies.”

Meanwhile, Samjin Pharm is a pharmaceutical company primarily engaged in drug R&D and manufacturing, supplying over-the-counter and prescription medicines to the South Korean market. Its flagship products include the anti-inflammatory painkiller Geworin and the fever and pain reliever Geworin Cool Down.

Alongside its pharmaceutical business, Samjin Pharm is also pursuing R&D on new and improved drugs. In recent years, the company has expanded into functional health foods and health care while developing drug candidates for conditions including dementia and cancer.
