Lotte Biologics said on the 7th that it has signed a manufacturing contract with global biotechnology company Alvotech.

The contract signing ceremony was held at CPHI Milan 2026, a global pharmaceutical and biotech exhibition in Milan, Italy.

The event was attended by key executives from both companies, including Lotte Biologics CEO James Park and CEO Shin Yoo-yeol, as well as Alvotech Chairman Robert Wessman and CEO Lisa Graver.

Alvotech is a biotechnology company headquartered in Iceland that focuses on the development and manufacturing of biosimilars. It has built a biosimilar portfolio across various therapeutic areas, including autoimmune and ophthalmic diseases.

Under the agreement, Lotte Biologics will manufacture multiple antibody biosimilar drug substances developed by Alvotech at its Syracuse, New York, manufacturing facility for global supply. The two companies plan to further expand the scope of their collaboration.

The Syracuse facility has 40,000 liters of bioreactor capacity for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, along with in-house process development and quality control capabilities.

The facility has a strong track record in commercial biopharmaceutical manufacturing. It recently passed an unannounced inspection by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration with no observations, demonstrating its global-level quality and regulatory compliance capabilities.

Through the agreement, Alvotech will expand its manufacturing footprint in the United States while further strengthening its global supply network.

The additional manufacturing capacity secured through Lotte Biologics is expected to complement Alvotech’s in-house development and manufacturing capabilities and existing partnerships, supporting its expanding product portfolio and enabling the company to respond flexibly to demand in global markets.

“Alvotech’s strong expertise in biosimilar development and Lotte Biologics’ global commercial manufacturing capabilities have created a powerful partnership with strong synergies,” Lotte Biologics CEO James Park said. “We will focus on supporting a flexible ‘dual-site’ manufacturing model optimized for global supply chains.”
