L&K Biomed is pursuing business expansion in the United States for its expandable cervical cages. The company plans to refine market entry strategies for its product lineup with local partners and strengthen its push into North America with BlueX-C, which has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
L&K Biomed announced on the 19th that its U.S. subsidiary, L&K Spine, participated in the North American Spine Society (NASS 2026) meeting, held in Texas from the 14th to the 17th, where it introduced its expandable cage product lineup, including the cervical implant BlueX-C.
During the conference, the company discussed business cooperation plans with major North American partners to expand the market for its BlueX series. The company said it had finalized not only a cooperation roadmap but also specific implementation timelines.
BlueX-C is an expandable cervical cage that received FDA clearance in May. According to the company, adoption at U.S. medical institutions is growing, with the implant having been used in a cumulative total of 50 surgical levels in the U.S. market.
Starting with BlueX-C, L&K Biomed is also working to expand its cervical implant portfolio. In collaboration with Dr. K. Daniel Ryu, a globally recognized cervical spine surgery specialist, the company is pursuing its “New Cervical Project,” which will add corpectomy products to its expandable cage lineup. The company plans to expand its cervical product range in stages to strengthen its competitiveness in global markets.
The company is also pursuing expansion into Europe in addition to North America. At the recent EUROSPINE meeting, it discussed ways to expand its product supply network with a European medical device company.
“We raised awareness of our products’ competitiveness at this conference and made our business cooperation plans with local companies more concrete,” an L&K Biomed representative said. “Building on our partnerships, we will work to generate tangible business results in overseas markets.”
Founded in 2008, L&K Biomed specializes in spinal implants and is targeting overseas markets, including the United States, with a focus on expandable cages.
BlueX-C received FDA clearance in May and was used in its first U.S. surgery in late June. The company subsequently expanded its use among leading spine specialists and, by mid-August, had recorded surgical applications across one to four levels. It reached a cumulative total of 50 treated surgical levels about a month and a half later.
