Hanseo University’s Advanced Fields (Aerospace and Drones) Innovation Convergence College (COSS) students have made waves in the design world, snagging one gold and three bronze medals at the globally renowned 2026 Spark Design Awards, the university proudly announced on Wednesday.
But that’s not all – Hanseo University’s creative prowess was on full display with an additional 23 projects making it to the finalist list. Talk about a design powerhouse!
Now in its 20th year, the Spark Design Awards is no small potatoes. It’s one of the world’s top four design competitions, rubbing shoulders with Germany’s Red Dot, iF, and America’s IDEA.
The gold-winning project, GRIPIT, is a game-changer for the elderly. This clever gadget helps seniors keep their fine motor skills and cognitive functions sharp through everyday hand movements like pulling, twisting, and pushing. Who knew staying fit could be so simple?
The bronze-winning projects are equally impressive. VELOS is a smart drug delivery platform that’s all about precision dosing and real-time tracking. Hydro-Nox takes underwater exploration to the next level, combining artificial intelligence (AI) smart goggles with a wearable jet propulsion device. And ALLY is your new best friend in allergy emergencies, analyzing biometric signals to predict and respond to severe reactions like anaphylaxis.
Gold medalist Ko Gyu-tae, a senior in Industrial Design, couldn’t contain his excitement: It’s beyond thrilling to have my design’s direction and value recognized. It’s committed to creating designs that spark positive change and send meaningful messages to society. After all, great design can truly make the world a better place.
