Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants powered his team to a dominant victory with a multi-hit performance, driving in three runs.
On Thursday, Lee started as the fifth batter and right fielder in a home game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Oracle Corporation Park in San Francisco. He went 2-for-6 with three run-batted ins (RBIs) and a run scored.
Extending his hitting streak to three games, Lee boosted his season batting average to .302 and increased his RBI total to 40.
Fueled by Lee’s offensive outburst, San Francisco demolished Milwaukee 16-3, securing their 46th win of the season against 62 losses.
Lee caught a break in his first plate appearance.
Leading off the second inning, he hit a routine fly ball against Milwaukee’s starter Thomas Pannone. However, center fielder Garrett Mitchell misplayed it, allowing Lee to reach second base on the error.
San Francisco capitalized on this opportunity with a big inning. After Willy Adames drew a walk, Daniel Susac blasted a three-run homer to open the scoring, with Lee crossing the plate for the game’s first run.
After grounding out in the third and fifth innings, Lee came up big in his fourth at-bat.
In the sixth, with two outs and runners on first and second, Lee faced reliever Bryce Wilson and ripped a low cutter down the right field line for a two-run double.
The Giants sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth, erupting for seven runs, with Lee putting an exclamation point on the big inning.
Riding his hot streak, Lee delivered another clutch hit in his fifth at-bat. In the seventh, with two outs and runners on the corners, he faced Wilson again and laced a single to left, driving in Bryce Eldridge from third.
Lee faced position player Andrew Vaughn, who took the mound in the eighth, but grounded out to first base.
Giants ace Logan Webb earned his sixth win of the season (6-7), tossing six solid innings. He allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four.
