BTS captivated over 150,000 ARMY members in New York, solidifying their global superstar status.
The K-pop sensation launched the second leg of their North American Arirang world tour at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 1-2. This electrifying return came just two weeks after their show-stopping performance as co-headliners during the 2026 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) North America World Cup™ final halftime show on July 19. It marked their triumphant comeback to the venue since their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour in May 2019, a gap of about seven years and two months.
The concerts sold out in record time, drawing a staggering crowd of approximately 157,000 fans over two nights. The same MetLife Stadium that recently reverberated with the cheers of global soccer fans was now awash in a sea of ARMY Bombs, BTS’s iconic light sticks.
Fans sang along passionately to the Korean lyrics throughout the show, creating an unbreakable bond with BTS. The crowd’s excitement reached fever pitch when the intro to “Aliens” from the “Arirang” album played, leading to thunderous cheers. The title track “SWIM” sparked a massive sing-along that echoed through the stadium. The poignant rendition of “Arirang,” a traditional Korean folk song, added a touching moment of cultural unity.
In a breathtaking finale, fans orchestrated a surprise by simultaneously raising flower-shaped placards, transforming the stadium into a blooming garden. The concert also drew unexpected star power with legendary American rapper Nas in attendance. RM, a long-time fan, shared his excitement on stage, saying that it’s surreal to perform in front of someone who was his teenage idol.
Following their East Rutherford shows, BTS will continue their North American tour with performances at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on August 5-6. This landmark event will make them the first Korean artists to headline a solo concert at the iconic venue.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has skyrocketed to become a global phenomenon, dominating charts with hits like “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance.” After a brief hiatus for military service, they made a powerful comeback with their fifth studio album, Arirang, in March.
