Mnet’s global girl group debut project, Girls Planet 2027, is generating significant buzz worldwide.
On Wednesday, Mnet revealed that Girls Planet 2027 has launched a massive outdoor advertising campaign on prominent digital billboards in New York’s Times Square, signaling its ambitious push into the North American market.
Since opening online applications in May, Girls Planet 2027 has received an unprecedented 40,000+ submissions, shattering previous records for the Planet series. Remarkably, applicants from the Americas, including both North and South America, make up approximately one-third of the total pool.
This digital frenzy is now spilling over into real-world events. Girls Planet 2027 is set to hold in-person auditions at KCON LA 2026 in Los Angeles from August 14 to 16.
The show Girls Planet 2027 is slated to premiere in 2027. Its predecessors have already made waves in the K-pop industry: the 2021 Girls Planet birthed Kep1er, while 2023’s Boys Planet launched ZEROBASEONE. Following suit, Boys 2 Planet in 2025 introduced ALPHADRIVE1, which continues to make strides in the music scene.
