Kim Ha-seong of the Atlanta Braves, who recently joined Major League Baseball (MLB), sat out for the second straight game.
On Thursday, Kim was absent from the lineup in the home game against the Miami Marlins at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
Kim started on the bench and didn’t see any action as a substitute.
After struggling with poor performance and injuries in the minors, Kim remained with Atlanta following the August 4 trade deadline, securing a spot on the big league’s 26-man roster.
However, his absence from the game on the day he was called up, followed by another missed opportunity, highlighted his diminished role within the team.
Kim currently finds himself behind both Mauricio Dubón and rookie infielder Jim Jarvis in the pecking order.
The Braves continued their winning ways even without Kim in the lineup.
Starting pitcher Bryce Elder delivered a stellar performance, allowing just one run over seven innings. The offense backed him up with 10 hits, including some extra-base knocks, to secure a 4-1 victory.
With their seventh straight win, the NL East-leading Braves improved to 69-45 on the season.
Notably, Kim’s positional rival Dubón made a significant impact, going 2-for-4 with an run batted in (RBI) and a run scored.
In other MLB action, Song Seung-moon of the San Diego Padres didn’t start against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix, Lizzona. However, he entered the game defensively in the bottom of the seventh and drew a walk while scoring a run.
Song’s season batting average remains at .208.
With the Padres trailing 10-1 in the ninth, Song worked a one-out walk and later scored on Gage Workman’s bases-clearing double.
Despite a four-run rally in the ninth, San Diego fell short, losing 10-4. The Padres now sit at 59-56, holding onto third place in the NL West.
