Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has reached double-digit home runs for the first time in a single season since joining Major League Baseball (MLB).
On September 19, Lee started as the cleanup hitter and right fielder in an away game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. He wasted no time, launching a homer in his first at-bat.
With his team trailing 0-1 in the top of the second inning, Lee faced Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow. After working the count to 2-2, he crushed Glasnow’s fifth pitch, a knuckle curve, sending it soaring over the right field fence. The blast traveled an impressive 120m.
This marks Lee’s tenth homer of the season, coming just over a month after he belted his ninth against the Houston Astros on August 11.
Lee’s power surge showcases his ongoing adaptation to the big leagues. In his 2024 MLB debut season, he managed just two home runs. Last year, he improved to eight. Now, with double-digit dingers under his belt, Lee is proving he can hang with the best in the bigs.
