TWICE member Jeongyeon has opened up about her departure from JYP Entertainment, her long-time agency, and her feelings about embarking on a new chapter in her career.

On Monday, Jeongyeon took to her social media account to share a heartfelt handwritten letter with her fans. She wanted to reach out all today with some important news, she wrote.

In her message, Jeongyeon revealed that after spending my teenage years and beyond with JYP, she has decided to take on a new challenge elsewhere. She candidly admitted that leaving such a familiar environment was daunting, but the unwavering support from my fellow members and the ONCE fans gave her the courage to take this step. The idol expressed her profound gratitude, saying that words can’t fully capture how thankful she is to the members and ONCE. She’s also deeply appreciative of the JYP family for nurturing her growth over the years.

Jeongyeon made it clear that her departure from the agency doesn’t mean the end of her journey with TWICE. She emphasized that she wants to assure ONCE that while she’s moving on to new opportunities, TWICE remains at the core of who she is. Her commitment to the group, the fans, will never change. Being a member of TWICE will always be her top priority.

Looking ahead, she shared that she’s pouring her heart into preparing for her future endeavors, both as TWICE’s Jeongyeon and in her new ventures as Yoo Jeongyeon.

Jeongyeon concluded her letter with heartfelt words for her fans: It’s eternally grateful for the trust and constant support. It has so many more memories to create together, and she promises to work tirelessly to make each moment even more special. Thank you, always, for everything.

Earlier that day, Baro Entertainment officially announced they had signed Jeongyeon to their roster. Interestingly, the agency is also home to Jeongyeon’s older sister, actress Gong Seungyeon.

A spokesperson for Baro Entertainment stated that they’re committed to being a strong support system for Yoo Jeongyeon. It’ll nurture her growth as an artist, leveraging the global presence she’s built over the years, while also ensuring her activities with TWICE continue seamlessly.

Baro Entertainment boasts an impressive lineup of talent, including Gong Seungyeon, as well as notable names such as Jin Goo, Byun Woo Seok, Park Jung Woo, Lee Yoo Mi, Lee Hong Nae, Lee Soo Kyung, Lee Chae Min, and Kim Si Ah.
