BTS’s “Fake Love” music video has surpassed 1.4 billion views on YouTube.
On Thursday, Big Hit Music, the group’s agency, announced that the music video for “Fake Love,” the title track from BTS’s third studio album Love Yourself: Tear released in May 2018, crossed the 1.4 billion view mark at approximately 3:46 p.m. (Korean time) that day.
This achievement marks BTS’s sixth music video to reach 1.4 billion views, following their hits “Dynamite,” “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey),” “DNA,” “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix),” and “IDOL.”
The “Fake Love” music video artfully captures the dark emotions of a painful breakup after realizing the falsity of a relationship. BTS’s unique lyrics and sound express heartbreak in a way that’s both melancholic and energizing. The choreography, featuring members covering their mouths, eyes, and ears to symbolize turning away from the truth, leaves a lasting impression on viewers.
“Fake Love” falls within the emo hip-hop genre, blending grunge rock guitar riffs with groovy trap beats to create an eerily somber atmosphere. The song delves into the emotional turmoil of discovering that a seemingly destined love was, in fact, a deception.
