Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United has clinched the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year award, completing a remarkable treble of individual honors.
The PFA announced on Wednesday that Fernandes emerged victorious in the Player of the Year vote, as determined by the union’s members.
This accolade caps off an exceptional 2025-26 season for Fernandes, who has now secured the Premier League Player of the Year, the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Player of the Year, and the PFA Player of the Year awards.
Fernandes is the first Manchester United player to receive this distinction since Wayne Rooney in 2010, and only the second Portuguese player to do so, following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, who won it with United in 2008.
Fernandes’ triumph marks Manchester United’s record-extending 12th PFA Player of the Year award, with Liverpool trailing behind at 10 winners.
As United’s captain, Fernandes was instrumental in guiding the team to a third-place finish last season, contributing 9 goals and a record-breaking 21 assists in the league. His 21 assists set a new single-season record in Premier League history.
Manchester City’s promising left-back, Nico O’Reilly, scooped up the PFA Young Player of the Year award. O’Reilly, who established himself as a key player for City last season, had already claimed the Premier League Young Player of the Year honor.
The PFA also unveiled its 2025-26 Premier League Team of the Year, with Fernandes securing a spot in midfield.
The champions Arsenal dominated the selection with five players: David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Jurriën Timber, and Declan Rice. Runners-up Manchester City saw four of their stars make the cut: Orailey, Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland, and Antoine Semenyo. Brentford’s prolific striker Igor Thiago, who netted 22 goals last season, rounded out the forward line.
