The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Tour is partnering with National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar LeBron James to host a youth golf tournament.
On Wednesday, the PGA Tour announced its collaboration with the LeBron James Family Foundation.
As part of this initiative, they will organize a youth golf tournament on July 6-7 next year at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
The event aims to spark positive change in James’ hometown of Akron by combining professional golf with youth engagement programs and fundraising efforts.
The I Promise mentoring program will introduce golf to young people and create opportunities for Black and minority athletes.
James expressed that golf is a crucial part of my life. It opens doors and brings people together.
He continued that through this PGA Tour partnership, he hopes to expose more kids to golf at a younger age. He’s thrilled to support talented young athletes chasing their dreams and to keep giving back to Akron, a city close to his heart.
PGA Tour Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jay Monahan stated that it believes golf has the power to create opportunities, transform lives, and unite communities. LeBron and his foundation have demonstrated the impact of putting these beliefs into action. This partnership will be a stepping stone to bringing the shared vision to life.
