A Twosome Place, the popular coffee and dessert chain, is set to make waves in the U.S. market with its unique K-Pairing concept, which celebrates the art of enjoying coffee and desserts together.
In a press conference held at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul’s Yeouido district on Thursday, the company announced its plans to open its first U.S. store next month in Alexandria, Virginia.
The debut location will be nestled on the charming King Street in Old Town Alexandria, just a stone’s throw from Washington D.C. This historic thoroughfare, lined with quaint restaurants, cozy cafes, and chic boutiques, is a hotspot for both tourists and locals alike.
After a meticulous two-year search, considering major cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and New York, A Twosome Place handpicked Alexandria as its launchpad. The decision wasn’t based on city fame, but rather on how seamlessly the brand could weave itself into the fabric of local consumers’ daily lives.
Another key feature is that the brand is entering mainstream commercial districts with high local consumer activity, rather than targeting specific cultural communities or Korean-American business districts. The plan is to expand operations to major U.S. cities based on the experience and data accumulated after validating the brand’s competitiveness in Alexandria.
In the U.S. market, A Twosome Place is introducing K-Pairing, a concept that reinterprets the coffee-and-dessert pairing culture it has developed in Seoul. The brand sells cakes that reinterpret traditional Korean ingredients—such as Strawberry Chocolate Fresh Cream Cake, Icebox Cake, dalgona, black sesame, and injeolmi—in A Twosome Place’s unique style.
The beverage menu features items like Dalgona Cream Top, Korean Apple Cinnamon Tea, Green Plum Refresher, and Misutgaru Frappé. The café will also offer meal options such as K-Toast and Bulgogi Bibimbap, featuring bulgogi and eggs, operating as an all-day café where customers can enjoy everything from coffee and desserts to light meals.
Starting with its first location in Alexandria, A Twosome Place plans to open additional stores in major commercial districts across the DMV region, covering Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The local subsidiary will directly manage the stores, focusing on enhancing the quality of products, services, and the overall brand experience.
The company plans to build a growth model optimized for the U.S. market by incorporating consumer feedback and operational data from each commercial district into menu development, store operations, and expansion strategies. After establishing brand awareness and a solid operational foundation in the DMV region, the company intends to gradually expand its reach to other areas across the United States.
Moon Young-ju, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of A Twosome Place, stated that while A Twosome Place has been building the brand’s competitiveness in Korea up to now, it is time to create new growth opportunities by transcending the boundaries of the brand and the market. He added that the U.S. is the first stage of this journey, and starting with the first store in Alexandria this October, it will officially launch A Twosome Place’s new global journey.
