K-pop sensation TWS has delighted fans by performing the Korean version of their Japanese hit “Soda Soda” on a popular music show.
Pledis Entertainment, the group’s management company, announced that TWS members Shin Yoo, Do Hoon, Young Jae, Han Jin, Ji Hoon, and Kyung Min delivered a captivating rendition of “Soda Soda” on Mnet’s “M Countdown” on Thursday.
The performance featured a dazzling backdrop of carbonation-inspired visuals. The six-member group wowed the audience with choreography that cleverly incorporated the song’s fizzy theme, including moves mimicking the shaking of soda bottles.
“Soda Soda,” a modern city pop track, uses carbonation as a metaphor for growing romantic feelings. While maintaining the summery vibe of the original, the Korean version boasts newly crafted lyrics.
The single, which dropped in Japan on August 4, made waves by selling an impressive 225,853 copies in its first week, securing the No. 2 spot on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. In a groundbreaking achievement, the title track became the first K-pop song this year to top Billboard Japan’s comprehensive Hot 100 chart.
TWS is currently thrilling Japanese audiences with their second tour, 24/7: FOR: YOU. After electrifying performances at Kobe World Memorial Hall from September 4 to 6, the group will continue their musical journey at Kanagawa Kia Arena Yokohama on September 12 and 13.
Since their January 2024 debut with the mini-album Sparkling Blue, TWS has been making significant strides in the industry. Their debut single, “plot twist,” recently surpassed a staggering 200 million views on YouTube Music in July, solidifying their status as rising stars in the K-pop landscape.
