BLACKPINK’s Lisa has unveiled her first solo track in 1 year and 7 months. The global sensation, who has been keeping busy with various collaborations including World Cup performances, has finally dropped her highly anticipated new single.
The K-pop star released her new single “SaWaDiKa” on Friday at 9:00 a.m. (KST). Fans can look forward to more music as Lisa is set to drop an extended play (EP) titled “PRESS PLAY” on October 23.
This marks Lisa’s triumphant return to solo work since her debut album Alter Ego hit the charts in February last year. The title “SaWaDiKa,” which means “hello” in Thai, pays homage to her roots.
The fresh track showcases Lisa’s signature style, featuring her intense, deep sound and rapid-fire rapping that’s sure to captivate listeners. Teasers for the single have already created buzz, with Lisa donning outfits reminiscent of traditional Thai garb and riding a tuk-tuk, hinting at a personal narrative woven into “SaWaDiKa.”
Since dropping Alter Ego, Lisa has been on a roll. She joined forces with pop-rock giants Maroon 5 for “Priceless” in May 2022, and this April, she collaborated with producer-DJ Anima on “Bad Angel,” even gracing the Coachella stage.
Her World Cup appearances have been particularly noteworthy. In May, she teamed up with Anitta and Lema for “Goals,” a track on the official 2026 FIFA World Cup album. She then lit up the World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles this June, cementing her status as a global icon. But Lisa isn’t stopping at music. She’s expanding her reach across various entertainment sectors. “Always Lalisa,” a documentary featuring the star, is set for its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, kicking off on September 10.
“Always Lalisa” promises an intimate look at the K-pop sensation’s journey, from her childhood aspirations to BLACKPINK’s meteoric rise, and her evolution into the multifaceted artist she is today. The documentary is helmed by Su Kim, known for the Apple TV+ original “The Last Haenyeo.”
In a groundbreaking move for K-pop, Lisa will headline a residency show, VIVA LA LISA, at Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas from November 13 to 28. Insiders expect her to debut her new tracks during these highly anticipated performances.
