K-pop sensation Hwasa is set to make history as the first female solo artist from the genre to grace the main stage at Brazil’s iconic Rock in Rio music festival.

P Nation, Hwasa’s management agency, announced that the star will perform on the Palco Mundo, Rock in Rio 2026’s premier stage, on Friday at Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Park.

This groundbreaking appearance marks a significant milestone for K-pop, with Hwasa becoming the first female soloist from the industry to headline the Palco Mundo stage.

The Palco Mundo is Rock in Rio’s crown jewel, featuring an impressive lineup including music legends Elton John, pop-rock favorites Maroon 5, K-pop powerhouse Stray Kids, and homegrown Brazilian talent Alok alongside Hwasa.

Fans can expect Hwasa to deliver electrifying performances of her chart-topping solo hits, including the sassy “Twit,” the empowering “Maria,” and the emotional “Goodbye.”

Rock in Rio, which debuted in 1985, has grown to become one of the world’s most prestigious music festivals. This year’s extravaganza spans from September 4 to 13, featuring seven days of unforgettable performances.

Hwasa’s journey to international stardom began in 2014 when she debuted as a member of the powerhouse girl group Mamamoo. She launched her solo career in 2019 with the release of “Twit,” which took the K-pop world by storm. Her latest single, “So Cute,” dropped in April this year, showcasing her evolving artistry. Fresh off the heels of Mamamoo’s successful 4WARD world tour, which saw the group perform in seven major U.S. cities last month, Hwasa is now poised to captivate global audiences on one of the world’s biggest stages.
