Girls’ Generation member and actress Yoona (Im Yoon-ah) and her team have taken a firm stance against malicious artificial intelligence (AI) generated images.
On Monday, SM Entertainment, Yoona’s agency, released a statement on their official website addressing the recent surge of illegal AI-generated images misusing Yoona’s likeness. These images, along with false information, have been widely circulating on social media platforms and online communities.
The agency stated that they’re actively gathering evidence of these illegal posts through fan reports via KWANGYA 119 and the ongoing monitoring efforts. Based on this evidence, it has already filed criminal complaints and intend to pursue legal action without any leniency or settlements.
SM Entertainment issued a stern warning: It demands an immediate halt to any creation, posting, sharing, or redistribution of illegal synthetic materials or unverified false information. This includes social media reposts, citations, news articles with images, and uploads on various community platforms. It strongly urges everyone to exercise extreme caution to avoid involvement in these unsavory activities.
The controversy erupted after AI-generated images of Yoona spread across online communities. One particularly contentious photo depicted the star appearing pregnant alongside an unidentified man.
