On Tuesday, Soyeon from the K-pop group i-dle achieved a perfect all-kill with her solo track “I’m gonna TOESA,” dominating music charts across South Korea.
As of 9:00 a.m. (KST), “I’m gonna TOESA” claimed the top spot on major streaming platforms including Melon, Genie, Flo, Vibe, Bugs, and YouTube Music.
This marks the third perfect all-kill for a song released in 2026, following IVE’s “Bang Bang” in February and AKMU’s “Rumor’s Paradise” in April.
Soyeon’s title track “I’m gonna TOESA (Narr. Kian84)” from her debut solo album An Amazing Life, released on September 7, tackles the relatable theme of quitting one’s job. The song showcases Soyeon’s signature wit and features a dynamic band sound. Soyeon herself wrote the lyrics, composed, and arranged the track.
The song’s realistic portrayal of workplace frustrations struck a chord with listeners, particularly resonating with office workers. CUBE Entertainment, Soyeon’s agency, reported that the song’s popularity spiked significantly during morning commute hours.
Just 11 days after its release, on September 18, “I’m gonna TOESA” topped the real-time charts on domestic music sites like Melon, Genie, Vibe, Flo, and Bugs. The following day, it claimed the number one spot on the daily charts for Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Vibe.
The song’s success extends beyond South Korea, making waves in China. It’s currently dominating Tencent Music’s Korean chart, Kugou Music’s Korean chart, and has earned triple gold certification on QQ Music. Additionally, it’s ranking high on the bestseller digital album comprehensive weekly chart, marking a career milestone for Soyeon.
This solo comeback, Soyeon’s first in over five years since her 2021 mini-album Windy, further cements her reputation as a multifaceted talent. Known for producing hit songs for i-dle such as “LATATA,” “Tomboy,” “Queencard,” and “I Hate Being Sick,” Soyeon’s success with her solo track proves her exceptional abilities as both a group member and solo artist.
Reflecting on her first Melon chart-topper on September 17, Soyeon told News1 that she can’t believe she has reached number one. She’s incredibly grateful to everyone who loves her music and to the fandom, Neverland. She added that she’ll continue to create music that brings a breath of fresh air to people’s lives.
