BTS has made history at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA), clinching three awards including the top honor. The members expressed that this album feels particularly meaningful as it marks a new beginning for them.
At the MTV VMA ceremony held on September 27 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, BTS—comprising RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—swept three awards. They won Song of the Year, Best K-Pop, and Best Group for “Swim,” the title track from their fifth studio album Arirang.
Notably, BTS became the first K-pop group to clinch the prestigious Song of the Year award. They also set a new record by winning Best Group for the fifth time, further cementing their legendary status.
In a statement released through their agency, BTS said that they’re deeply grateful to the ARMY for their constant love and support. Arirang represents a new chapter for them, which makes these awards even more significant.
They added that winning Song of the Year with “Swim” is a testament to everyone who has embraced the music. It promises to continue delivering great music and performances as a seven-member team.
Following this remarkable achievement, BTS is set to embark on their BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG starting October 2 in Bogotá, Colombia. The tour will take them across five South American cities, including stops in Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, where they’ll connect with their international fanbase.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has skyrocketed to global stardom with hits like “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance,” solidifying their position as the world’s premier boy group. This March, following a brief hiatus, they released their fifth studio album Arirang, marking their triumphant return to the music scene.
