K-pop sensation Kickflip has skyrocketed to the top of South Korean music and album charts immediately following the release of their fifth mini-album.
JYP Entertainment, the group’s agency, announced on Wednesday that both title tracks from Kickflip’s latest extended play (EP) KICK OFF THE WALL Pt. 1 – “Incomplete” and “Kick Off The Wall” featuring iann dior – claimed the #1 and #2 spots respectively on the Bugs real-time chart on release day.
All eight tracks from the album made their way onto the Bugs real-time chart. The new release also dominated the Hanteo Chart’s real-time album rankings and Circle Chart’s real-time retail album chart, securing the top position on both.
The music video for “Incomplete,” which dropped on September 28, has already amassed over 14.2 million views on YouTube as of Wednesday morning. Co-written and composed by member Kye Hoon, the track delves into the uncertainties faced by today’s youth.
The other title track, “Kick Off The Wall,” features lyrics penned by Kye Hoon and Dong Hwa, with a guest appearance by American singer-songwriter Ian Dior. The song encourages listeners to fearlessly overcome obstacles in their path.
All members contributed to the album, with their names appearing in the credits for all eight tracks. Kye Hoon shared insights into the creative process, stating that it wanted to capture our genuine thoughts rather than presenting polished answers. The just go for it attitude it embraced naturally led to Kick Off The Wall.
Kickflip celebrated their comeback with a special performance on Mnet’s M2 YouTube channel on release day. The showcase featured their new double title tracks alongside fan-favorites like “Waste It All With You,” “Knock Knock,” “FREEZE,” “My First Love Song,” and “Twenty.”
Kickflip made their official debut on January 20 last year with their first mini-album Flip it, Kick it! In a remarkable feat, they graced the stage at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, a major U.S. music festival, just six months after their debut. The group continued to build momentum, dropping their fourth mini-album My First Kick in April this year.
