The Milwaukee Brewers have taken a commanding lead in the National League Championship Series (NLCS), moving one step closer to a World Series berth with their second straight win. On the flip side, the defending champion Los Angeles (LA) Dodgers are in trouble after dropping two in a row, with their starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto getting knocked out early. The Dodgers’ quest for a third consecutive World Series title is now in serious jeopardy.
In Game 2 of the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) NLCS, played on Tuesday at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Brewers outgunned the Dodgers 7-4.
Following their 2-1 victory in Game 1, Milwaukee has now taken both home games to secure a 2-0 series lead.
Despite a shaky start from Logan Henderson, who gave up four runs (two earned) in four innings, the Brewers’ bullpen was lights out. They shut down the Dodgers completely over the final five frames, not allowing a single baserunner.
At the plate, William Contreras was the star of the show. Batting third, he went 3-for-4 with a homer, a walk, three run-batted ins (RBIs), and a run scored, powering the Brewers to victory.
For the Dodgers, it was a night to forget. Last year’s World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP), Yamamoto, was chased after just 2⅔ innings, and the bullpen couldn’t stop the bleeding. The offense sputtered, managing only three hits all game. Shohei Ohtani, hitting cleanup as the DH, went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
The Dodgers drew first blood with Teoscar Hernández’s sacrifice fly in the top of the first.
Milwaukee answered right back in the bottom half, with Contreras delivering an RBI single to tie it up.
LA regained the lead 2-1 in the third, capitalizing on a pickoff error by Henderson with runners at the corners and one out.
The Brewers weren’t done, though. In the bottom of the third, with two outs and the bases loaded, Christian Yelich came through with a clutch two-run single. The 3-2 lead spelled the end for Yamamoto, who got the hook.
The see-saw battle continued in the fifth, as the Dodgers scraped together a run on a Brewers error and a Freddie Freeman sac fly to go up 4-3.
But Contreras wasn’t finished. He crushed a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth to knot it at 4-4, then came up big again in the sixth. With one out and runners on the corners, he laced another RBI single to put Milwaukee ahead 5-4.
With momentum on their side, the Brewers tacked on two insurance runs in the eighth. Timely hits from Brice Turang and Jake Bauers sealed the deal, giving Milwaukee a comfortable 7-4 cushion.
Now in an 0-2 hole, the Dodgers will look to right the ship on their home turf. The series shifts to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on October 15 for Game 3 of the NLCS.
