Atletico Madrid’s Lee Kang-in played a key role in the opening goal just 50 seconds into a UEFA Champions League match with a brilliant forward pass. Atletico capitalized on its early lead to defeat Manchester United and earn its first win in this season’s Champions League.

Atletico Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-0 in the second round of the 2026-27 Champions League league phase on the 14th at Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain.

Atletico had lost 2-1 to Liverpool in the opening round, but secured its first victory of the Champions League campaign in its second match.

Lee started as one of two forwards in a 4-4-2 formation and played until being substituted in the 16th minute of the second half. Although he did not attempt a single shot, he contributed to the victory with a forward pass that initiated the decisive early goal.

Atletico took the lead just 50 seconds into the first half, with Lee at the heart of the move.

Lee collected the ball in midfield and passed it to Alex Baena, who was making a run into the space behind Manchester United’s defense. Baena played the ball across to the opposite side, where Pablo Barrios fired a right-footed shot into the net.

Atletico continued to control the match but could not add to its lead. Johnny Cardoso had a goal ruled out for offside, while Julián Álvarez struck the post.

Atletico intensified its attack after Manchester United defender Leny Yoro was sent off in the 29th minute of the second half, giving the Spanish side a numerical advantage.

Atletico finally added a second goal in the 34th minute of the second half on a counterattack. Jonathan David’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but the rebound fell to Ademola Lookman, who finished with a right-footed strike to seal the win.

Germany’s Bayern Munich, meanwhile, drew 3-3 away to Norway’s Viking FK.

Bayern center back Kim Min-jae played the full match but was part of a defense that conceded three goals.

Bayern fell behind 2-0 after conceding twice in the first half. The German side fought back after the break, with Harry Kane scoring twice in the ninth and 15th minutes of the second half to level the score.

Bayern completed the turnaround in the 26th minute of the second half when Luis Díaz scored.

However, Bayern were reduced to 10 men two minutes later when Michael Olise was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Playing with a numerical disadvantage, Bayern conceded an equalizer in the 45th minute of the second half and settled for a draw, leaving them with one win and one draw for four points.

Club Brugge defender Lee Han-beom also helped his team secure a 4-3 away win over Italy’s Inter Milan after coming on as a substitute.

Lee, who began the match on the bench, entered in the 16th minute of the second half with the score tied at 1-1.

Nicolo Tresoldi, who had opened the scoring in the 30th minute of the first half, added goals in the 18th and 29th minutes of the second half after Lee came on, completing a hat trick and extending Club Brugge’s lead to 3-1.

Club Brugge conceded a goal to Lautaro Martínez in the 36th minute of the second half, but Romeo Vermant scored six minutes later to restore a two-goal cushion at 4-2.

Inter Milan scored again in stoppage time to narrow the gap, but Club Brugge held firm to prevent any further goals and secure the victory.
