Hyundai Motor’s The New Elantra N TCR secured a crucial victory in the 7th round of the 2026 Touring Car Racing (TCR) World Tour in China, putting the driver’s championship within striking distance.

Hyundai announced on Monday that The New Elantra N TCR clinched first place in the 7th round of the 2026 TCR World Tour. The event took place from October 23-25 at the Zhejiang International Circuit in China’s Zhejiang Province.

The TCR World Tour is a premier global touring car competition that selects eight rounds from TCR events worldwide. Rankings are determined by points earned in each race. This ‘customer racing’ series prohibits direct manufacturer participation, allowing only professional racing teams that purchase manufacturer-built cars to compete.

The Zhejiang Circuit, host to this round, is a challenging 3.2 km counterclockwise track with 16 corners. Its compact layout and numerous consecutive turns demand strategic race management from drivers and teams.

Mikel Azcona, representing the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team in The New Elantra N TCR, dominated the weekend. He claimed victory in both the first and third final races on October 24 and 25, respectively. This stellar performance solidified his lead in the 2026 season’s overall driver standings.

Teammate Norbert Michelisz also impressed, securing second place in all three final races. This consistency propelled him to second in the overall driver standings.

The BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team’s strong showing has earned them a total of 863 points, maintaining their second place position in the team standings.

Hyundai’s success this season began with a win at the season opener in May at Italy’s Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The team followed up with victories in the third round in France, fourth round in Portugal, and fifth round in Inje, South Korea.

The 2026 TCR World Tour will conclude with its eighth and final round in Macau from November 19-22.

A Hyundai spokesperson expressed optimism about their championship prospects heading into the Macau finale. It’s thrilled to be in such a strong position as it approaches the season’s climax, they stated. The team is fully committed to giving it the all in Macau to secure the championship title.
