K-pop sensation ILLIT has shattered their own record for first-week sales with their latest mini-album.
Belift Lab, the group’s agency, announced that ILLIT’s fifth mini-album BREAK EVEN sold a staggering 444,072 copies from its September 26 release date through October 1, according to Hanteo chart data.
This impressive figure surpasses their previous best-selling record of 411,654 copies, set by their fourth mini-album MAMIHLAPINATAPAI, by 32,418 units.
BREAK EVEN delves into the concept of a relationship’s break-even point, featuring four tracks that convey a powerful message about walking away from one-sided relationships where emotional investment isn’t reciprocated.
The title track “You’re Under Arrest” makes a bold statement with its prominent whistle sound. It quickly climbed to the No. 3 spot on both Melon’s Top 100 and Bugs charts. The song’s global appeal was evident as it reached No. 16 on Apple Music’s Today’s Top 100: Global and No. 74 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global as of September 30.
The track’s popularity extended to short-form video platforms, with TikTok videos featuring the song amassing over 260,000 views within just six days of release. On Instagram, it claimed the second spot on the Rising Audio for Reels chart.
ILLIT burst onto the K-pop scene in March 2024 with their debut mini-album SUPER REAL ME. Their debut single “Magnetic” made history by reaching No. 91 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time a K-pop group’s debut track has entered this prestigious chart.
