North Korea has responded strongly to the recent condemnation from South Korea, the United States, the European Union (EU), and eight other nations over its military cooperation with Russia, including the deployment of North Korean troops. North Korea described the criticism as a joint statement that distorts and slanders the nature of what it considers a normal cooperative relationship.

In a statement issued Thursday via the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), a spokesperson for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry claimed that the international community’s condemnation is a grave threat that not only constitutes a blatant political provocation infringing on the sovereignty of independent states but also shakes the foundations of global peace and security.

The spokesperson lambasted the U.S. and its allies, branding them as a gang of thugs who arbitrarily violate established international legal principles of sovereign equality and non-interference in internal affairs, measuring everything against their illegal hegemonic interests. The statement expressed serious concern and protest against these provocative actions, strongly condemning them.

The spokesperson further argued that the reflexive hysteria of hostile forces toward North Korea-Russia relations demonstrates the significant effectiveness of strengthened cooperation between independent sovereign states in curbing the malicious expansion of influence by the United States and the West, ensuring a necessary balance of power to safeguard global peace and security.

Targeting the Biden administration, North Korea stated, “It is worth noting who benefits and who suffers from the diplomatic legacy left behind by the current U.S. administration, which is nearing the end of its term and will disgracefully exit the stage of history.”

The spokesperson emphasized, “As long as the U.S. clings to outdated scripts while ignoring the new reality, it will continue to fail in its dealings with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The U.S. will face new challenges, while we will steadfastly defend our legitimate rights as a sovereign nation and exercise them without any restrictions.”

Previously, South Korea, the U.S., the EU, the U.K., France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada issued a joint statement on Monday, expressing their strongest condemnation of increased military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including the deployment of North Korean troops to battlefields against Ukraine.
