When our military dismantled the loudspeakers used for North-targeted psychological warfare broadcasts, North Korea responded by dismantling its Southbound loudspeakers.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated on August 9 that it has been identified that the North Korean military has been dismantling Southbound loudspeakers in some frontline areas since this morning.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff added that additional verification is required to determine whether the dismantling is taking place throughout all areas, and explained that the military will continue to monitor the relevant activities of the North Korean forces.

Earlier, South Korean military began dismantling the loudspeakers aimed at the North on August 4 in an effort to ease tensions between the two Koreas, and completed the work within just one day.

Previously, on June 11, when the South Korean government halted broadcasts via the Northbound loudspeakers, North Korea ceased its Southbound noise broadcasts in less than a day.
