North Korea has unveiled five new hotels in the Samjiyon tourist district.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on Tuesday that opening ceremonies for the five hotels in the Samjiyon tourist area were held on Saturday and Sunday.

Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party, attended the ceremonies and highlighted the crucial role these hotels play in establishing the country’s tourism culture and revitalizing the tourism industry.

He emphasized that while service facilities are important for tourism development, the foundation lies in service quality, adding that hotels must prioritize improving staff service capabilities and professional standards.

The newspaper described how ceremony attendees toured the hotels, which feature clean rooms designed to meet diverse guest preferences, a range of service facilities offering cultural experiences, and indoor and outdoor hot springs that provide year-round relaxation and rejuvenation.

On page four, the paper reported residents’ enthusiastic response to new local industrial plants built nationwide to improve living standards. It said citizens expressed confidence that a solid foundation for regional development has been established and conveyed deep gratitude to the General Secretary for what they described as prosperity.

Page five highlighted that workers at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex exceeded their daily pig iron production target by 1.2 times. An article titled “A New Vitality, A New Spirit in December” reported that news of completed local industrial plants has sparked unprecedented patriotic fervor among agricultural workers.

Page six announced that the Pyongyang Kwangmyong Information Technology Company has been named one of the top ten IT companies for the fifth consecutive year. The newspaper underscored the importance of talent development, stating that the company trains researchers to become skilled professionals urgently needed by the state and their respective units, with the capacity to compete on a global scale.
