North Korea is reportedly preparing for its largest-ever military parade to coincide with the 9th Party Congress of the Workers’ Party, likely to be held in January or February.
Military sources revealed on Thursday that Pyongyang is mobilizing an estimated 15,000 personnel for the parade near Mirim Airport.
This parade, if it takes place, will be the first since the October 10 event last year celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party, which involved about 18,000 participants. It’s expected to be the largest military parade ever held for a Party Congress.
The most recent parade commemorating a Party Congress occurred on January 8, 2021, during the 8th Party Congress at Kim Il Sung Square, with an estimated attendance of around 10,000.
A spokesperson for the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the forces are closely monitoring North Korea’s parade preparations and maintaining a high level of readiness.
