North Korea convened a plenary session of the Cabinet Party Committee to reinforce the implementation of economic initiatives, following decisions made at the 9th Party Congress.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on Thursday that an expanded plenary meeting of the Cabinet Party Committee was held to execute the decisions of the 9th Party Congress and the 1st Plenary Meeting of the 9th Central Committee. The session was chaired by Premier Pak Thae-song.

During the meeting, officials deliberated and decided on strategies to achieve the new objectives set forth at the 9th Party Congress. However, specific details were not disclosed to the public.

Ri Yong-sik, Secretary of the Cabinet Party Committee, emphasized in his report that the Cabinet, as the supreme administrative body responsible for executing the party’s economic policies, must implement unified, forward-looking, scientific, and rational leadership over the national economy. He stressed the importance of flexible and efficient management.

Ri underscored the need to strengthen the existing production foundation in key industries and normalize production, thereby spearheading and vigorously driving the overall economic sector.

In the agricultural sector, he highlighted the importance of establishing a robust technical foundation to boost crop yields. Ri also touched upon Pyongyang’s urban development initiatives, environmental protection efforts, and disaster response strategies.

The newspaper reported that subcommittees were formed to develop action plans for policy tasks assigned to the Cabinet and economic guidance agencies, in line with the directives and strategic programs outlined by the Party Congress.
