On Tuesday, Democratic Party Representative Seo Young-kyo revealed that he received a document from Bae Sang-yun, chairman of KH Group, reaffirming the truthfulness of his previous media interview statements. In that interview, Bae had asserted that the North Korea remittance was entirely unrelated to President Lee Jae Myung, who was serving as the governor of Gyeonggi Province at the time.

Seo, who chairs the special committee investigating allegations of politically motivated prosecutions by the Yoon Suk Yeol administration, disclosed this confirmation document during a hearing on the same day.

According to Seo’s office, the confirmation was faxed to the National Assembly along with a copy of Bae’s identification card.

The document Seo made public reaffirms the content of Bae’s previous SBS interview. It states that the 2019 agreement between Kim Seong-tae, chairman of Ssangbangwool, and Bae Sang-yun, chairman of KH Group, was purely for business purposes and had no connection to Gyeonggi Province. The document emphasizes that Lee Jae-myung, then-governor of Gyeonggi Province, was completely uninvolved in this matter.

In an interview on June 24 of last year, Bae acknowledged providing funds to North Korea as part of business initiatives but stressed that there was no connection to President Lee.
