On Wednesday, Kim Jong Un, Supreme Leader of North Korea, attended a commemorative concert celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Central Military Band of the Ministry of National Defense.

The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers’ Party of Korea, reported on its front page that Kim attended the performance alongside key military figures. These included Defense Minister No Kwang-chol, Chief of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army Kim Song-gi, and Chief of the General Staff Ri Yong-gil, as well as high-ranking officials from the Party’s Central Committee.

During the event, Kim lauded the military band, stating that the band has been a powerful force in inspiring the brave and heroic armed forces through revolutionary music, demonstrating an impact that surpasses any conventional weaponry. He commends this ensemble not merely as an artistic group, but as a vital representation of the revolutionary military.

The newspaper’s second page highlighted the ongoing public interest in the newly opened Military Operations and Combat Achievements Memorial Hall in Pyongyang. The facility, which debuted on the anniversary of the Kursk Operation’s conclusion, has been drawing significant crowds. According to the report, visitors expressed fervent patriotism, honoring the noble sacrifices of those who distinguished themselves during the era of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

An article on page 3 emphasized the importance of education, titled, Learning: The Foundation of Revolutionary Talent. The piece stressed the necessity for officials to thoroughly study policies established during the 9th Party Congress, asserting that a deep understanding of Party ideology is crucial for proactive and effective leadership.

Page 4 reported on the arrival of a delegation of senior students from Chosen University, an institution affiliated with the pro-North Korea General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The group, led by Dean Ri Tae Il, paid their respects at the statues of North Korea’s former leaders on Mansudae Hill.

A warning about increased wildfire risks was featured on page 5, under the headline, Heightened Vigilance Required Against Wildfires. The article highlighted the elevated danger due to lower-than-average rainfall and severe drought conditions across the country, emphasizing the critical need for robust fire prevention measures.

The final page discussed educational reform, with an article titled, Advancing Extracurricular Education Through Science and Technology. Citing Moranbong First Middle School as an exemplar, the piece advocated for a data-driven approach to education, stating that it must implement scientific methods to assess and forecast students’ intellectual growth, enabling more targeted development of their individual abilities and talents.
