
North Korea’s women’s soccer team, seeking its first Asian Games gold medal in 12 years, opened the tournament with a commanding 10-goal victory. North Korea defeated Bangladesh 10-0 in the first match of the group stage of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games at Nagai Stadium in Osaka, Japan. Kim Kyong-yong, Jon Ryong-jong and Chae Un-yong were among the North Korean players to score multiple goals. Four other players added one goal each as North Korea completed the 10-goal rout. At the stadium, students from nearby Korean schools formed a cheering section for North Korea. They enthusiastically supported the team while holding signs including messages such as “Toward the finish line of building a sports powerhouse.”
