Prime Minister Kim Min-seok is set to visit New York City in the latter part of this week.
Multiple government sources revealed on Tuesday that Prime Minister Kim plans to visit the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York as early as March 12. His mission is to secure South Korea as the host for the UN Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub.
This U.S. trip is understood to be part of South Korea’s strategic efforts to host the AI Hub, which is closely tied to the UN’s ongoing AI initiatives.
Notably, Prime Minister Kim is also arranging meetings with U.S. government officials during his visit. There’s speculation that he may engage with high-ranking officials, including Vice President JD Vance, whom he met during his previous U.S. visit in late January. These discussions are expected to cover pressing issues, such as ongoing tariff negotiations.
