Police have apprehended a man who posted a bomb threat in English on the website of Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Michigan, U.S.

On Tuesday, the Cyber Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they had referred a 20-year-old South Korean man, identified as Mr. A, to prosecutors without detention on charges of making public threats.

Mr. A is accused of posting a bomb threat in English on the Detroit airport’s website on March 20 of the previous year.

In January of this year, police received a request for investigative assistance from U.S. authorities (Homeland Security Investigations) and initiated an international collaborative investigation.

Law enforcement officials stated that they will continue to track down and arrest perpetrators through cross-border investigations and international cooperation, regardless of whether the threats originate domestically or internationally. They emphasized that they will respond firmly to threatening posts related to large-scale events or performances, even if they are claimed to be pranks, with strong measures including potential detention during investigations.
