Franklin Templeton, a leading global asset management firm, has officially announced its support for the U.S. Clarity Act.

On Monday, the company took to X (formerly Twitter) to express its backing for the legislation’s passage.

The Clarity Act is a proposed U.S. virtual asset market structure bill that aims to establish clear guidelines for classifying digital assets as either securities or commodities. It would also divide regulatory oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Franklin Templeton emphasized that the Clarity Act would provide much-needed regulatory transparency for the digital asset industry. The firm stated that the legislation would clarify the regulatory framework for virtual assets, enhance investor protection measures, and provide businesses with greater certainty regarding which regulatory bodies will oversee their operations.

Support for the Clarity Act is gaining momentum among traditional U.S. financial institutions. Industry giants such as BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., and Charles Schwab have already publicly endorsed the legislation.

Fidelity Investments has noted that a comprehensive national regulatory framework could foster innovation while providing investors with essential legal assurances.

David M. Solomon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., highlighted the growing interest in blockchain-based financial services within the banking sector, particularly in areas like tokenization and custody. Charles Schwab echoed this sentiment, predicting that the Clarity Act could serve as a catalyst for broader adoption of virtual assets among investors.

In related news, Franklin Resources, the parent company of Franklin Templeton, reported that its assets under management (AUM) reached 1.79 trillion USD as of June 30, marking an increase from the previous month’s figure of 1.78 trillion USD.
