A former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter-turned-YouTuber is under investigation for allegedly threatening police officers and journalists at far-right rallies near the Seoul Western District Court, the Constitutional Court, and the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.
According to South Korean police on Wednesday, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul recently received a complaint and officially booked an individual running the YouTube channel “Boobaedal” as a suspect.
The individual is accused of obstructing a police vehicle and striking the court’s outer wall while live-streaming near the courthouse on January 18, shortly before a disturbance occurred at the Seoul Western District Court.
The person reportedly live-streamed in front of the Constitutional Court during President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment trial hearings.
On Monday, the individual was also accused of restricting access to employees and journalists at the National Human Rights Commission while the commission deliberated on a proposal to ensure Yoon’s right to legal defense.
