North Korean wrestler Ri Se Ung clinched a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

Competing in the men’s Greco-Roman 60kg category at the Paris Olympics, Ri earned a bronze medal by defeating Venezuela’s Reiver Rodriguez 8-0 with a technical fall. The match took place at the Champs de Mars Arena in Paris, France.

Ri added to his bronze medal from the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games by securing North Korea’s fifth medal at the Paris Olympics.

On this day, North Korea added two more medals to its tally. Kim Mi Rae secured a bronze in the women’s 10m platform diving event, and Ri won bronze in wrestling. This brings North Korea’s total to two silver and three bronze medals.

In the semifinals the previous day, Ri faced a loss to China’s Cao Liguo. However, he bounced back the next day, dominating Rodriguez, who had advanced through the repechage round and secured victory in just 1 minute and 11 seconds.

North Korea’s Pak Sol Gum competed in the women’s freestyle 68kg category but lost 2-4 to Turkey’s Busenaz Cakiroglu in the bronze medal match, failing short of securing a medal.

In the semifinals the day before, Par suffered a defeat to USA’s  Amit Elor and proceeded to the bronze medal match. She briefly held a 2-1 in the second round but ultimately lost due to consecutive points scored by her opponent.
