Vieworks, a leading medical and industrial imaging solutions provider, is ramping up its efforts to penetrate the global pathology diagnostics market after securing a contract to supply digital slide scanners to a prominent European diagnostic equipment manufacturer.

The company announced on Wednesday that it has finalized an agreement to provide its high-performance slide scanner, the VISQUE DPS, to major diagnostic equipment firms across Europe.

This deal marks Vieworks’ second significant breakthrough in a key market region, following its entry into the U.S. market. It further validates the commercial viability and reliability of the VISQUE DPS on the global stage.

A Vieworks spokesperson emphasized the strategic importance of this contract, noting that it paves the way for expanded distribution beyond individual institutions to hospitals and diagnostic networks throughout Europe.

The new European partner reportedly made its decision after a comprehensive year-long evaluation of the system’s processing speed, image quality, and operational efficiency in real-world pathology diagnostic settings.

The VISQUE DPS, featuring Vieworks’ proprietary Real-time Extended Focus technology, meets three critical requirements demanded by advanced markets: superior high-resolution imaging, rapid processing of large slide volumes, and versatility in pathology testing.

Following its success in the U.S., this European supply contract highlights the system’s ability to simultaneously capture images from multiple focal planes and synthesize only the sharpest areas in real-time. This innovative approach reduces file sizes by approximately 20% while significantly enhancing resolution during Whole Slide Image (WSI) generation.

The high-quality cellular slide imaging capabilities of the VISQUE DPS set it apart from global competitors. It is expected to accelerate the adoption of digital pathology in cytopathology, a field where digital transformation has been limited.

The VISQUE DPS boasts an impressive capacity to hold up to 510 tissue slides simultaneously and can generate up to 83 WSIs (based on 15×15 mm) per hour, positioning it as one of the fastest slide scanners available. This makes it ideal for large hospitals or pathology labs that need to process high volumes of slides.

A key advantage of the system is its ability to digitize both histopathology and cytopathology slides using a single device. This allows hospitals to streamline their entire pathology diagnostic process with one scanner, reducing both equipment investment costs and maintenance overhead.

Looking ahead, Vieworks plans to accelerate the diversification of its product lineup and enhance its solution offerings. The company aims to develop a comprehensive suite covering the entire pathology diagnostic process by sequentially launching the LH210 model for small to medium-sized hospitals and a compact slide scanner for laboratories, complementing their flagship LH510 model.

A Vieworks representative stated that this European supply contract is a testament to the VISQUE DPS’s technological prowess and commercial viability in the global market. They added that it plans to leverage this recent contract as a springboard to expand the supply network in the U.S. and European markets.

According to global market research firm Grand View Research, the digital pathology market is poised for rapid growth, projected to expand from approximately 1.53 billion USD in 2025 to about 3 billion USD by 2033.
