OpenAI’s ChatGPT has rebounded, reclaiming a 10% monthly growth rate after falling behind rival AI chatbots like Gemini and Claude. The company is reportedly gearing up to unveil a new chatbot model this week.

CNBC and other media outlets reported on Wednesday that Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, recently informed staff that ChatGPT’s monthly growth rate has once again exceeded 10%.

Altman also disclosed plans to launch a new chatbot model this week.

The forthcoming model from OpenAI is believed to be the one that has been under development since last year’s Code Red alert.

OpenAI previously triggered the Code Red alert when Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini 3, was perceived as gaining an advantage in the AI race, prompting OpenAI to consider a complete overhaul of its revenue model.

In response, Altman made the bold move to accelerate the release of the next-generation chatbot, GPT-5.2, by 2-3 weeks, launching it in December. He also communicated internally that more work was needed to enhance ChatGPT’s day-to-day user experience.

Additionally, on Thursday, Altman announced that following the release of the agent-type coding AI model GPT-5.3-Codex, its usage surged by 50% within a week.
