LG Electronics announced on Thursday that its high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)solutions, including heat pumps and chillers, have received the Performance Award from the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) for the ninth consecutive year, affirming the company’s quality and technological expertise.
AHRI conducts annual evaluations through designated testing organizations like Intertek, randomly selecting products from various categories to rigorously assess whether their actual performance aligns with specifications. To qualify for the award, all evaluated products must pass the primary performance assessment for three consecutive years.
LG Electronics has achieved this remarkable feat annually since 2018. This year, six product categories were recognized: large-capacity system air conditioners (VRF), air-cooled chillers (ACCL), water-cooled chillers (WCCL), air handling units (AHU), AHU and chiller heat exchangers (ACHC), and residential heat pump water heaters (RWH).
The Multi V 5, LG Electronics’ flagship large-capacity system air conditioner (VRF), showcases exceptional performance and energy efficiency. This is achieved through its proprietary high-efficiency inverter compressor and air-source heat pump technology.
Its three-stage compression technology maximizes heating efficiency, while real-time optimization of refrigerant flow during heating and cooling operations enhances overall energy efficiency. The system’s reliability in extreme temperatures has made it particularly popular in North America, where winter temperatures can plummet.
LG Electronics’ air-cooled scroll chiller, a high-efficiency commercial product featuring an inverter scroll compressor, is designed for easy installation in confined outdoor spaces such as rooftops. The water-cooled chiller, which uses cooling water to remove condensation heat, is renowned for its superior operational efficiency. These chillers are utilized in various applications, including central air conditioning for medium to large buildings, district heating and cooling systems, semiconductor clean rooms, and data center cooling.
This year, LG Electronics’ residential heat pump water heater, which has earned ENERGY STAR® certification for its consistent hot water supply and heating efficiency, made its debut on the Performance Award list.
LG Electronics develops and manufactures key components such as compressors and motors in-house. The company continues to invest heavily in research and development (R&D) to drive innovation in core HVAC technologies, including heat exchangers, inverters, and heat pumps.
Lee Jae-sung, President of LG Electronics’ Eco Solution (ES) Business Unit, stated that its consistent recognition in AHRI’s stringent performance evaluations over the past nine years underscores the commitment to quality and innovation. It will leverage this expertise to continue introducing more efficient and customer-centric products in the global HVAC market, with a particular focus on the U.S.
