LG Innotek Partners with U.S. Autonomous Vehicle Software Specialist Applied Intuition

LG Innotek has formed a strategic partnership with Applied Intuition, a U.S.-based autonomous driving software specialist, announced March 30.

The collaboration pairs LG Innotek’s sensing modules with Applied Intuition’s autonomous driving software and test vehicles. Applied Intuition holds partnerships with 18 of the top 20 global automakers and is widely recognized as a leader in autonomous driving software and simulation tools.

Under the agreement, LG Innotek will equip Applied Intuition’s test vehicles with its proprietary sensing modules for deployment in key markets including the U.S., Europe, and Japan. The real-world testing will allow LG Innotek to collect data on regional road infrastructure, traffic patterns, and weather conditions across different driving environments.

A key element of the partnership is LG Innotek’s integration of a complete set of virtual sensors into Applied Intuition’s simulation tools. Using digital twin technology, the virtual sensors replicate the characteristics of physical sensors in a simulated environment. The company believes automakers that use virtual sensors during development are more likely to adopt those products for mass production, potentially accelerating autonomous vehicle launches.

The partnership also covers LG Innotek’s composite sensing solution, which combines cameras, LiDAR, and radar. Real-world testing of the technology is expected to significantly accelerate development timelines.

Both companies plan to jointly market their integrated sensing and software solutions globally, with ambitions to expand beyond autonomous vehicles into drones and robotics.

LG Innotek’s CEO said the partnership is aimed at delivering strong solutions to customers as the company works toward becoming a global leader in mobility and robotics sensing.
