
Samsung Global Research, the think tank of Samsung Group, is set to open a new office in Tokyo, Japan.
According to industry sources on the 30th, Samsung Global Research is preparing to establish the Tokyo office. It will be the company’s second overseas office following its Beijing, China office, which was established in July 2005.
Currently, one employee has been dispatched to Japan, with plans to expand the research staff through local hiring. The institute aims to complete the establishment in the second half of this year.
Following the launch of the Tokyo office, Samsung Group is expected to accelerate its research on Japan.
The Tokyo office will focus on a wide range of areas, including the Japanese economy, industry, markets and consumers, society and policy.
Research is also expected to cover artificial intelligence (AI) and IT sectors in Japan.
A Samsung official said, “The office is still in the preparatory stage before full-scale operations begin.”
