Samsung Electronics is expanding its file-sharing capabilities with Apple iPhones to earlier models, including the Galaxy S25, following the introduction of this feature in the Galaxy S26.
On Wednesday, reports from SamMobile and other media outlets revealed that the latest beta version of Samsung’s One UI 8.5 includes an update for the Quick Share feature, enabling compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop.
This update is expected to roll out to devices running Android 16 or higher, encompassing the Galaxy S25 series and flagship smartphones and foldable phones from the Galaxy S22 series onwards. Some budget-friendly Galaxy A series models may also receive the update.
Samsung had previously announced on March 23 that the Galaxy S26 series would support compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop through Quick Share. At that time, the company hinted at plans to extend this functionality to existing Galaxy models.
This new feature allows users to directly transfer photos, videos, and documents between Galaxy devices and Apple products like iPhones and iPads without relying on separate apps or cloud services. Previously, sharing files between the two ecosystems required the use of messaging apps or cloud services, which was often cumbersome.
The update is seen as a strategic move to soften the divide between mobile platforms dominated by iPhones and Galaxy devices, potentially expanding Samsung’s user base.
