LG Electronics Unveils Commercial E-Paper Display Aimed at Energy-Efficient Signage Market

LG Electronics is intensifying its efforts in the business-to-business (B2B) display market by introducing the ultralow-power commercial display LG E-paper Display.

LG Electronics announced on Thursday that it will launch the LG E-paper Display in global markets, starting with South Korea early next month, followed by Europe and other regions.

The LG E-paper Display is a commercial display that replicates the texture of a paper poster while maintaining the screen image without requiring continuous power. It utilizes electronic ink panel technology, which moves and fixes charged color particles according to an electric field.

Notably, when changing the screen image, its energy consumption is significantly lower compared to conventional digital signage, making it highly versatile for various commercial spaces such as store menu boards and promotional displays. Digital signage refers to display solutions that repeatedly broadcast messages on screens, essentially functioning as electronic billboards.

The new product features a 32-inch screen with quad high definition (QHD) (2560×1440) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. As a reflective display, it offers a 180-degree wide viewing angle and provides a comfortable viewing experience similar to paper, thanks to the absence of a built-in light source. LG Electronics has also developed and applied its own image quality enhancement algorithm to improve color reproduction.

The device is equipped with a high-capacity 72 watt-hour (Wh) battery and an ultra-low-power system on a chip (SoC), enabling extended use. It can be fully charged in about three hours using a dedicated charger when powered off, and also supports wireless charging through a magnetic auxiliary battery attached to the rear.

The product incorporates a power management feature that automatically controls power based on the user’s specified content transition schedule. This approach reduces battery consumption and increases operational efficiency by only powering on when content changes are necessary.

LG’s signage operating system, webOS, is also integrated into the device. Users can remotely monitor the product’s status, adjust settings, and update content through a web-based solution. With LG SuperSign CMS, users can simultaneously distribute content to multiple E-paper Displays or manage schedules efficiently.

The product has a thickness of 17.8 mm, with its thinnest part measuring 8.6 mm, and weighs about 6.8 lbs including the built-in battery. It also received an award at the Red Dot Design Award 2026 this year.

Min Dong-seon, head of LG Electronics’ Media Entertainment Solution (MS) Business Division Information Display (ID) Business Unit, stated that with its ultra-lightweight and ultra-slim design combined with groundbreaking ultra-low-power technology, it will offer new possibilities for the B2B customers.
